Another Way to SHOP FOR THE CO-OP: Scholastic Books

You can shop for Scholastic books all year and support the co-op at the same time! Browse with your child through the paper catalogs (you'll find them periodically in your co-op mailboxes), or online for a greater selection, including books for older kids. The possibilities are endless: Stock up on future birthday party presents or holiday gifts, or grow your own home library. Ask your child's teacher if there is a book the class is reading that might be fun to have at home as well. There are always lots of good seasonal selections available. It's very easy to do, and the prices are hard to beat.

Here’s how it works:

1.   Register at Scholastic Reading Club's secure website and create your own username and password.

2.    Enter the one-time Class Activation Code. It is K24Y6.

3.    Choose and pay for the books you want. They will come right to your child’s cubby at school!  Orders take approximately 2 weeks.

The co-op earns credit for each order placed.

If you have any questions please email Christine Wilt.

Happy reading!

Shop for the Co-op! Order Unique Gifts from Original Works

Help the co-op, highlight your children's artistic talent (they grow up fast!) and get yourself ready for the holiday season!

Once again, the co-op will be teaming up with Original Works, a company which helps turn your child's artwork into products to "wear and share." Calendars, notecards, canvas bags, mugs, night lights, and t-shirts are only some of the possibilities.  And the best part: a significant portion of each item ordered goes directly to the co-op. (Check out the array of products here: )

With the help of the teachers, each child has created a special piece of artwork designed for you to use for this program if you so desire. The artwork, along with an order form, price list, and more information will go home with your child this week. Completed order forms, payment, as well as the art work can be returned to the office in a box labeled ORIGINAL WORKS that will collected daily. Alert your caregivers as well, so they can put this packet in a special place for you to review.  Items will be shipped to the co-op and distributed directly to you at the very beginning of December.

The deadline for ordering is November 3rd.

And by all means, if your child has other favorite artwork, or if you have older children whose artwork you'd like to use, feel free to include or use them for your order.  A few suggested guidelines for the type of artwork that reproduces best can be found here.

Save the Date & Book a Sitter: Fall Potluck Nov. 14

The Fall Potluck is a month away!
Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 7:30 pm

This event is a wonderful opportunity for the "grown-ups" in our school community to come together and share a lovely meal and really get to know one another better in a casual, convivial environment.

For this fall's edition, our gracious hosts will be Ruth Kaplan and Boaz Paldi, parents of Adrian in the 2s class.

The food theme will be COMFORT FOOD. As usual, the event is BYOB for drinks, though our hosts may be preparing a "signature libation" to get everyone feeling warm and fuzzy upon arrival!

Hospitality Chair Joe Seely will send a more "formal" invitation in the coming days. Food sign-up sheets will be posted in the hallway of the 2s and 3s building at the beginning of November. In the meantime, circle the date on your calendar, line up a sitter for the little ones, and shine up those party shoes!

Workshop Dates Announced

Co-op parents are asked to participate in one of four workshops for the year. Both parents are welcome, but just one is required.

Our first workshop will be Saturday, August 29, 2015, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Please contact Leslie Matt as soon as possible if you would like to sign up for this first workshop.  There will be coffee and bagels to get the morning started off right. The specific task hasn't been determined yet, but please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. If you sign up for this workshop, you will have fulfilled your duty for the year, and you won't have to sign up for any of the remaining workshops. This is a great way to kick off the new school year!

The other workshop dates will be:

-  Saturday, October 17, 2015

-  Saturday, February 6, 2016

-  Saturday, May 21, 2016

Sign-up sheets for remaining workshops will be posted at the Back to School Night, Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at 8:00 pm.
