Mr. Sergio, we will miss you!

Happy February Everyone!

It is a short month, but a mighty one nonetheless; that is to say that the Lunch Bunch crew have been doing our best to continue having fun and fruitful days, even during these cold weeks.

We have been learning to speak Spanish (counting to 10, introducing ourselves, saying please/thank you and more!)... We’ve also learned about poetry (what it is and what it sounds like) and have tried to remain active in the classroom (bowling, soccer, dance parties and more) since we haven’t been able to hit the playground as much. I’m also happy to say that we’re celebrating Black History Month and Valentine’s day as well!

Some of the Highlights:

  • Taking turns being the kicker and goalie for Soccer

  • Painting our own traffic lights (inspired by Garrett Morgan.)

  • Making winter collages

  • Decorating our own Valentine's pop-up cards

Finally, it is with a heavy heart that we announce Mr. Sergio’s departure from the Co-Op. Mr. Sergio shared: “I want to be emphatic when I say how grateful I am to have had this opportunity to work alongside your children for the past couple of years. It has truly been such an amazing experience, to say the least! Thank you to the stellar staff, and to the board for all of your support. I will miss the kids tremendously, but will plan to visit, and I’ll be there for Graduation day!”

Your children will be in great hands with Mrs. Liz, Ms. Hira, and the amazing supporting staff. Gracias para todos! <3

Celebrating a Fantastic Year

LUNCH BUNCH!

We did it! We made it to the last week of school, and what a stellar year it’s been! These last few weeks have been filled with dance parties (including instruments!), outside play, indoor games (like musical chairs), tons of reading, messy art and more!

We’ve also had the pleasure of having our newly turned 3’s (from the 2’s class) join us, and they’ve transitioned so well that it felt like they were here the whole time! It is a great space for them to continue developing their growing brains, and we’d love to have more kids join us next year.

On our final day of the 2024-25 year, we celebrated with mini donuts, an extra big dance party, and more! And although we’re sad to see so many friends moving on, we are proud of their trajectory, and wishing them all the best in kindergarten!

Rain or Shine, We're Having a Blast at Lunch Bunch

Earth Day-inspired activities have continued into May and we love the messy art results! Unrestrained art offers children a variety of sensory experiences. We explore different textures, mix colors, and get all five senses involved in creating. We’re excited to share some of that process below!

Highlights
✍🏽 Making journals for art and literacy.
🌻 Decorating our garden with painted rocks.
🦄 Using liquid paint and cotton balls to make rainbow clouds.

Throughout May, we’ll continue to explore new themes and concepts, while also building off of morning class topics like the life cycle of the butterfly.

November Highlights with Lunch Bunch!

Last month we started having deeper discussions about what it means to meditate, to be mindful, as well as what it means to be grateful. We also emphasized (in our chats and throughout the day) how important taking deep breaths can be.

Monthly Highlights:

  • Using our breaths to make art!

  • Mindful hand art (using glitter paint!)

  • Discussing different textures, which led to slime play, texture matching games, and pom pom art!

This month we plan on celebrating the holiday season with stories, activities and crafts. We’ll also be talking more about music: instruments, sounds, and more!

Exploring Creativity and Mindfulness in October with Lunch Bunch!

This October, our Lunch Bunch crew embraced the fall season with creativity and mindfulness. From brewing "spooky potions" and counting pumpkins to crafting Halloween candy collages, the children dove into festive fun while building new skills. We also introduced mindfulness practices, encouraging little ones to connect with their emotions through breathing exercises and thoughtful crafts like our "breathing sticks."
